Privacy Policy
Agape is a place to read Scripture, pray with friends and find community. What you read, pray for and share is personal, and we treat it that way. This Privacy Policy explains what information Agape Faith, Inc. ("Agape," "we," "us" or "our") collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website at agapebibleapp.com (the "Site"), the Agape mobile apps for iPhone and Android, and related services (together, the "Services").
The short version
- We never sell your personal information, and we do not use your faith, prayers or reading activity for targeted advertising.
- Prayer requests and reading activity are visible only to the people you choose: your circle, a group, everyone, or anonymously. Quiet mode pauses sharing anytime.
- We use your information to run Agape, keep it safe, and send you messages you asked for, like your early access invite.
- You can access, correct, export or delete your information by emailing info@agapebibleapp.com or, once the app launches, from your account settings.

1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Early access signups. When you join the waitlist on the Site, we collect your email address, the platform you chose (iPhone or Android), which signup form you used, any referral code in the link you arrived from, and the time you signed up. We also generate an invite link so you can bring friends.
- Account information. When you create an account in the app, we collect your name, email address or phone number, password or sign-in credentials (such as Sign in with Apple or Google), and optional profile details like a photo, username, bio and church or denomination.
- Content you create. Prayer requests, replies, comments, highlights, notes, reflections, verse images, group posts, messages and anything else you post or upload ("Your Content").
- Preferences. Your Bible translation, language, reading plans, devotional and notification settings, widget choices and the topics you care about.
- Community and events. Groups you create or join, people you add to your circle, and events you create, RSVP to or attend.
- Contacts (optional). If you choose to find friends from your phone's contacts, we use phone numbers or email addresses from your contacts only to show you who is already on Agape and to send invites you ask us to send. You can turn this off in your device settings.
- Communications. Messages you send us, survey answers, and feedback.
Information collected automatically
- Usage information. Features you use, chapters and plans you open, reading streaks, time spent, and actions like praying for a request or joining a group.
- Device and log information. IP address, device type, operating system, app version, browser type, language, time zone, crash reports, and the pages or screens you view.
- Approximate location. We may infer a general location (like your city) from your IP address. If you allow it, the app uses your device's location to show nearby churches, groups and events. Precise location is always optional and you can turn it off in your device settings.
- Push notification tokens. If you allow notifications, we store a token from Apple or Google so we can send you daily verses, prayer updates and reminders.
Information from others
- Other users. Friends may invite you, mention you, add you to a group, or pray for a request that includes you.
- Sign-in providers. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive basic profile information they share with us, such as your name and email address.
- App stores and payment processors. If you subscribe to Agape+, Apple or Google processes your payment and tells us your subscription status. We do not receive or store your full card number.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Services: create your account, deliver daily verses, reading plans, devotionals, guided meditations and the audio Bible, run groups and events, power widgets, and show prayer requests to the people you chose.
- To personalize Agape: suggest plans, groups, events and devotionals based on your preferences, church family and activity.
- To communicate with you: send your early access invite, account and security messages, notifications you turn on, and, with your consent where required, news about Agape. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
- To keep Agape safe: prevent spam, fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines, and protect our users and the public.
- To improve the Services: understand how features are used, fix bugs, and develop new features.
- To process subscriptions: manage Agape+ status and provide support.
- To meet legal obligations: comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and establish or defend legal claims.
Where the law requires a legal basis (for example, in the UK and EU), we rely on performing our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in running and improving a safe service, and compliance with legal obligations.
3. Faith and prayer information
Your use of a Bible app, the prayers you share, and the church or denomination you choose can reveal your religious beliefs, and prayer requests may include health or other sensitive details about you or people you love. Some laws treat this as sensitive personal information. We handle it with extra care:
- We collect and use it only to provide the features you use, such as showing your prayer request to the audience you picked or tailoring devotionals to your church family.
- We do not sell it, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to infer characteristics about you for advertising.
- Telling us your denomination or church is always optional.
- Please think before including someone else's private details, such as a friend's diagnosis, in a public prayer request. Anonymous posting and circle-only sharing are there for that reason.
4. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only in these situations:
- With the people you choose. Content you share goes to the audience you select (see section 5).
- With service providers. Companies that help us run Agape, such as hosting and content delivery (including Cloudflare), databases and cloud storage, email delivery, push notifications, analytics, crash reporting, customer support and moderation tools. They may use your information only to provide services to us and must protect it.
- With app stores. Apple and Google, to process subscriptions and deliver the app.
- For legal reasons. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or legal process, or needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Agape, our users or others, including to prevent imminent harm.
- In a business transfer. If Agape is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We may also share information that is aggregated or de-identified so it cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
5. What other people can see
- Your profile: your name, username and photo are visible to other users so friends can find you.
- Reading activity: when sharing is on, the friends in your circle can see what you are reading and your streak. Quiet mode pauses this.
- Prayer requests: visible to the audience you choose for each request: your circle, a group, everyone on Agape, or posted anonymously. Anonymous requests are shown without your name or photo, but we still know who posted them so we can enforce our rules.
- Groups and events: members of a group can see what is posted in it. Events and their hosts may be visible to people nearby.
Anyone who can see your content can also screenshot or share it, so please share thoughtfully.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The Site uses a small amount of browser storage to work properly, for example to remember a signup in your browser. Fonts on the Site are served by Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google and shares your IP address and browser details with it. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set strictly necessary cookies for security and performance and may provide us with privacy-focused traffic statistics. We do not use advertising cookies on the Site. The app may use similar technologies (such as device identifiers and SDKs for analytics and crash reporting) to operate and improve the Services. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and some browsers let you send a Global Privacy Control signal, which we honor as a request to opt out where applicable.
7. Your choices
- Sharing controls: choose the audience for each prayer request, turn on Quiet mode, or post anonymously.
- Notifications: adjust or turn off push notifications in the app or your device settings.
- Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. We will still send essential account messages.
- Location and contacts: turn off access in your device settings at any time.
- Delete your account: from the app's settings once available, or by emailing us. Deleting your account removes your profile and Your Content, subject to section 9.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it;
- access or receive a copy of your personal information;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your personal information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising (we do not do either);
- limit the use of sensitive personal information (we already limit it to providing the Services);
- withdraw consent, object to or restrict certain processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; and
- not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
To make a request, email info@agapebibleapp.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify your identity before acting, usually by confirming the email on your account. You may use an authorized agent, who must provide proof of their authority. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond within the time required by law.
9. How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. Waitlist signups are kept until the app launches and your invite is sent, or until you ask us to remove you. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your information within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep some of it to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse or enforce our agreements. Backup copies may persist for a limited time before being overwritten. Content you shared with others, such as a reply in a group, may remain visible where it was posted in de-identified form.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong password and let us know right away if you think your account has been compromised.
11. Children
Agape is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). Teens 13 to 17 may use Agape only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. International users
Agape Faith, Inc. is based in the United States, and we process and store information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than yours. When we transfer personal information from the UK, EU or other regions with transfer rules, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Agape grows. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and if the changes are material we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
